We used to argue endlessly about our favorite bands
But Westerberg stole my heart with his Replacements.

High school was an evil place – we never seemed to fit.
A Mohawk in a country town’s just asking for it.

I finally escaped that place and ran for my life.
But ghosts from the past have a way of hanging tight.

We’d stay in touch with emails once or twice a year.
And talk of how we’d someday get together for a beer.

He killed himself on Christmas Eve 2008.
A bullet was the only thing that could take away his pain.

And his hero was Joe Strummer.
His favorite album was Black Market Clash.

He was rock and roll.
